Winter Wonderland
Perhaps the mot obvious choice, but for good reason! Winter Wonderland, running from 21st November 2024 to 5th January 2025, is a staple of London’s festive season and truly has something for everyone. Picture yourself gliding across the UK’s largest open-air ice rink, surrounded by thousands of sparkling lights and the sounds of live music.
Once you’ve mastered the ice, take a stroll through the fairground, where exhilarating rides like the Giant Wheel and ice slides await thrill-seekers. For those who prefer to keep their feet on the ground, Winter Wonderland offers an incredible range of food and drink, as well as festive market stalls selling a range of gifts, to get you in the mood for the big day.
London Eye Christmas Experience
From December 15th to 25th, the London Eye will light up with a spectacular Christmas design that you don’t want to miss! Enjoy longer opening hours in the lead-up to the big day which will allow you to see the capital twinkling with festive lights. Spot Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, House of Parliament and more from 135m up in the air, the perfect romantic moment for you and a loved one.
Somerset House Ice Skating
Just a ten-minute walk from our Covent Garden restaurant, Somerset House offers an unparalleled skating experience in the heart of the capital during the festive season. Set against the backdrop of stunning architecture, the ice rink is one of London’s most iconic winter attractions, and this year will be open from 13 Nov 2024 to 12 Jan 2025. As well as gliding across the beautifully lit ice, you can enjoy festive food and drink as well as the perfect playlist of music to get you in the mood for Christmas.
Christmas lights
One of the simplest but most satisfying pastimes during the festive period is a walk around, or getting on a bus, to see the Christmas lights. There really is no shortage in London but after a visit to Somerset House, we can certainly recommend the mistletoe chandeliers at Covent Garden as well as the lights in nearby Seven Dials.
Other Christmas Light Displays we love include:
- Oxford Street
- Carnaby Street
- Regent Street
- Mayfair.
Christmas Theatre
There’s nothing more magical than the bright lights of the stage, especially at Christmas time. Luckily for our guests, there are many amazing theatres within walking distance of both our Covent Garden and Oxford Circus restaurants to choose from.
For example, this winter, consider a classical experience of the Nutcracker at the London Coliseum between mid-December and mid-January (less than a 10-minute walk from our Coven Garden restaurant). Or perhaps you’re looking for something for the whole family? Robin Hood is this year’s pantomime at the London Palladium, running from early December to mid-January and promises to be a spellbinding journey into the Sherwood Forest (and it’s only an 11-minute walk to our Oxford Circus restaurant.
Other nearby options include The Snowman at the Peacock Theatre or the Stick Man at the Leicester Square Theatre. No matter your theatre choice, we have an excellent value pre-theatre menu to ensure your tummy isn’t rumbling when it comes to the curtain call.
La Clique at Leicester Square
For a truly jaw-dropping experience, La Clique’s Award-Winning show at Leicester Square is an absolute must-see throughout November and December. This mesmerising spectacle combines a breathtaking mix of daring acrobatics, eye-popping stunts, and raucous comedy, all brought to life by a cast of extraordinarily talented performers. With its eclectic and exhilarating blend of circus, cabaret, and live music, La Clique promises an unforgettable evening of entertainment.
